  Blimey

I now know why all of Rosco's creation's up to now have been a bit on the small side, he must have allocated the majority of his parts toward building this: (URL) (20 years ago, 21-Mar-04, to lugnet.technic)

rosco, that thing is going to be HUGE!!! i can't wait to see the final pictures. how tall is it going to be when finished? that's a lot of hinged plates on the treads. is that a soldering iron i see in the background? do you do a lot of electronics (...) (...) This is a very interesting project. I'd like to see the slew ring for a crane in this scale, assuming that it's a working model and not just a static piece. Looking at the design of the crawler so far and knowing a bit about large Lego cranes (...) (20 years ago, 22-Mar-04, to lugnet.technic, FTX)

(...) A friend of mine is building the Liebherr LGD1800 of Riga Mainz (the Spacelifter). (2 URLs) He tried to lift the A-frame with Technic beams + gear racks. He used 12V motors (the round ones). It didn't work very well. His crane is on scale (...) (20 years ago, 2-May-04, to lugnet.technic, FTX)

Re: Advice from crane builders (was: Blimey)

(...) Hmmmm. I just looked closely at that pic, and can see the a-frame line is reversed once (goes across to opposite side of pulley). I've noticed some cranes do this, and some don't - some do it more than once - none of the DEMAG ones I've seen (...) (20 years ago, 16-May-04, to lugnet.technic, FTX)
