actually chains are terrible at this...

the only reason i can get away with a chain in the drive system is because
it is on the motor side of the worm gear.  Your right about the hydraulics,
and ig I owned the correct ones, i'd consider it.  This doesn't seems to be
affecting the gear that its attached to at all.  the 724 that i have it
hooked to inside of the worm gear unit, is handeling it like a trooper.
like i said in a previous post, its made the ride so markedly more well
behaved, that I can barely believe it.  Its worked out leaps and bounds
better than I would have suspected.

your right though.  I smile every time i look at it.

Hmm.  Most of the rides I've seen like that use hydraulics to rotate them
into position - not a system of gears.

My second choice would be some kind of chain drive to lift and lower - • this
would eliminate torque on the pivot bar.

Something to consider when using metal against plastic is that the plastic
is softer and will yield to the metal bar.  This could cause damage to • other
Lego pieces.

It is amusing though to see Lego components recreated in metal.

to my LUG's dismay.  Well, I couldn't let it go, and by Monday morning I • had
to find out if it was possible, and began unsuccessfully to call machine
shops looking for a donation.  Finally it struck me, and sure enough the
