Re: New Gear Boxes and Motor Systems

(...) You are welcome Eric. Although I was surprised someone beat me to the punch. I was thinking of posting this morning after mediation from Brickshelf but looks like its OK. Also, I was surprised someone did not post earlier pics. And this is the (...) (21 years ago, 31-May-03, to lugnet.technic, FTX) !

Re: New Gear Boxes and Motor Systems

Nice motor and gear cases. I would like a few of them :) First I have a few question: 1. What is the small grooves beside the axelholes? If you look closly too all three pieces you will see some small grooves in the casing around the outside of the (...) (21 years ago, 31-May-03, to lugnet.technic)

Re: New Gear Boxes and Motor Systems

(...) There is a groove around the axleholes or a larger hole. The inside of this larger hole has small teeth on it. Interesting but I am not sure of its use since an axle will connect to the other pieces. It could be a sleeve for another kind of (...) (21 years ago, 31-May-03, to lugnet.technic)

Re: New Gear Boxes and Motor Systems

Re: New Gear Boxes and Motor Systems

(...) What I'm interested in is the size of the worm box and the ability to add your own legnth of axle to the motor. The motor is just slightly smaller than the current ones. As a Robot Builder, I have to ask myself what I can do with these. As a (...) (21 years ago, 31-May-03, to lugnet.technic)

Re: New Gear Boxes and Motor Systems

(...) Drive + steering just got better! I could use this with an 8 wide steering rack using the 24t bevel gear drive system! It would probably be in a 12-14 wide truck. But will the transaxle work without the motor, I mean just functioning as a (...) (21 years ago, 1-Jun-03, to lugnet.technic, FTX)

Re: New Gear Boxes and Motor Systems

Personally I'm not at all impressed with these parts. So the motor is slightly smaller? So what. The 'mindstorms motor'as it's been called is small enough. It's made out of clear plastic. That only makes it harder to camouflage in models. I never (...) (21 years ago, 3-Jun-03, to lugnet.technic)

  I Win!

(...) I ordered mine second day air before you even created the challenge. It showed up today. I've got my first walker. Not pretty, but is made exclusively from parts in 4094. I win! LOL! (URL) (...) Kevin (21 years ago, 4-Jun-03, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: I Win!

(...) Doh! You win! I'll get you yet! P.S. I got mine yesterday. P.S. The worm gear box is a superior design, less backlash, stays crispy in milk. e (21 years ago, 6-Jun-03, to lugnet.technic)

  RE: I Win!

(...) But it's still a worm gear, so it's really only good for positioning devices, not for gear reduction. I agree with others that a small, efficient gear reducer would be more useful than another worm. --Bram Bram Lambrecht bram@cwru.edu (...) (21 years ago, 6-Jun-03, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: I Win!

(...) But, its an improvement. How many threads have been tossed around complaining about the backlash problem with worm gears and the various gear boxes. I'm telling you that this new gear box is an improved version of the old config. What's with (...) (21 years ago, 6-Jun-03, to lugnet.technic)
