I checked the site again this morning and for the US it says available. The box has RIS 2.0 in large letters with small pictures of four robots. The Spring catalog ad for the RIS 2.0 mentions new advanced programming software (I assume this is the (...) (24 years ago, 6-Jul-01, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic)

I agree, though I see lego's reason: they want the biggest and most expensive set to seem the most powerful. Also, about needing the many masks, think about it, all you need is Hau and Akaku(sp?).
