Re: Pneumatic Pump Testing Goes Hi Tech

(...) Nice work as ever! One type of pump I've not seen you test yet is a varation of Michael Powell's using an 8 tooth gear onto 40 tooth gear reduction rather than the belt drive, as this seems to improve performance significantly. How about a (...) (24 years ago, 10-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic, lugnet.build, lugnet.dacta)

Re: The bodge and it's use in Technic Construction

(...) More or less, but I think "kludge" carries more negative connotations than "bodge"; a bodge is generally thought of as a clever workaround (although still a workaround), whereas "kludge" seems to imply an ugly or inelegant solution that will (...)   Re: Yet another use for 7106

(...) How about a homebrew one? I believe it is possible to get fairly thick "plastic card" which can be heated in the oven and moulded - I think this is a technique used by those who scratch build scale models of various types. It won't be pure but (...) (24 years ago, 10-Apr-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: 8857 Street Chopper question

(...) The stub shaft is supposed to represent a Cam shaft (as far as I can tell :). It is geared to 1/2 engine speed (which is right for a 4 stroke) James (24 years ago, 10-Apr-01, to lugnet.technic)

Pneumatic Pump Testing Goes Hi Tech

Hi, fellow pneumatics fans Ever since the RCX Controlled Air Compressor Tester was posted, there have been many suggestions for it's improvement, in particular to linearize the tracing. More importantly, several people have commented that it was, (...) (24 years ago, 10-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic, lugnet.build, lugnet.dacta) !

Re: what sets include the old 9v motor

(...) I have an old motor that I want to use in a MOC and I want to study sets that use them to see how you get emough power to make them work. (24 years ago, 10-Apr-01, to lugnet.technic)

Re: what sets include the old 9v motor

(...) Can you explain why you're asking? Do you have some older motors that you wish to use to motorise old sets or do you need an older motor? If you need an older motor I do know where to get a new copy of 8485 Control Centre II which has three. (...) (24 years ago, 10-Apr-01, to lugnet.technic)

Re: what sets include the old 9v motor

The 8480 Space Shuttle comes to my mind. But you'll probably find that most pre 1998 Technic sets included instructions for motorization with the old style motor. Go to Brickshelf to see for yourself. Fredrik (24 years ago, 10-Apr-01, to lugnet.technic)

what sets include the old 9v motor

or can be used with the old 9v motor pack? (24 years ago, 10-Apr-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: 8857 Street Chopper question

(...) You are right, the chain drives a axle with no function. It's only decoration. Because the large tires the differential isn't turning very fast and thus the engine rpm is also not very high. By head I think the 8865 has one of the fastest (...) (24 years ago, 10-Apr-01, to lugnet.technic)
