As the site I just mentioned is in Japanese you'd better use this link which takes you straight to the motorbikes. (URL) (24 years ago, 8-Apr-01, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Length of Diagonal Spreadsheet (Now in PDF format!)

Thank you everyone who either offered to make a PDF file or went ahead and made one and mailed it to me. Here is the PDF version of the spreadsheet. (URL) suggest that you print it out and try out some of the diagonals. For the new 12 and 20 tooth (...) (24 years ago, 8-Apr-01, to lugnet.org.us.smart, lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic)

  Length of Diagonal Spreadsheet

Hi Everyone, I just created a spreadsheet that I think will be useful to many of us. It shows the lengths of possible diagonals in terms of LEGO Units. I created it because I often find myself searching by trial and error for possible diagonal (...) (24 years ago, 7-Apr-01, to lugnet.org.us.smart, lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic)

Re: Yet another use for 7106

That might well be the closest yet to come to a grader blade. Although I would prefer it if it didn't have those nasty-looking ridges made by the studs and plates that help fit them together. Should be fairly simple to make one, a 90o curve isn't (...) (24 years ago, 7-Apr-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Ideas for new sets?

(...) Well, The <set:8422> wheels are aprox. 83mm in diameter (with the tires), so what I would want is more like 120+mm. - David (24 years ago, 7-Apr-01, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.modelteam)

(...) [...] (...) It looks more like <set:8422> than 8417. On the other hand, it has "real-working rear suspension", but no gears, chains, engines, etc. -- mechanisms that make the Technic 8417 and 8422 so enjoyable. In terms of functionality, this (...)   Re: I wish Lego made an "Anti-Backlash Gear"

(...) Yes, I've noticed this too - they like to run it through their fingers and make bracelets and whatnot from it. Perhaps it would be a good executive stress toy? :-) Jennifer Clark (24 years ago, 6-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic)

  Re: In Search of...

Sorry I couldn't. I even tried attempting a trade for two whole Amazon's/Jungle's with my younger brother but he wouldn't go for it.   Re: Ideas for new sets? (re: motorcycles)

Re: I wish Lego made an "Anti-Backlash Gear"

(...) Believe me that I have tried a lot of combinations. Also your and my idea of "little slack" may be quite different. But it is true that I have never done an exhaustive study on the subject.   Re: I wish Lego made an "Anti-Backlash Gear"

(...) If you use a tensioner arrangement, then it works OK. I haven't really played around with much more than simple weight tensioners (mostly for conveyer use...the catapilar treads are great for that!), but imagine you could come up with a (...)   Re: I wish Lego made an "Anti-Backlash Gear"

Dean, it's probably dumb luck that the two drives on the piece I'm working on have little slack. Yet, with LEGO beams and blocks you can't use every gear combination; there are published beam/block/plate combinations that let this or that pair of (...)   Re: I wish Lego made an "Anti-Backlash Gear"

(...) You're kidding, right? It's almost impossible to build a geartrain using the chain that doesn't have tons of reversal delay. The links seem to be designed in such a way that they don't work well with technic beams and gears. I always have (...) (24 years ago, 5-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic)

Re: I wish Lego made an "Anti-Backlash Gear"

There is one real simple way to eliminate backlash: Use LEGO's 'small-link chain' with their normal gears as sprockets. I paid CAN$7.00 for 135 links from Pitsco-Dacta's Canadian vendor. There is absolutely NO backlash. Mind you, the gearing problem (...) (24 years ago, 5-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic)
