  Need alternative storage recommendations

Greetings all, Currently I have eight 11 gallon and six 7 gallon Rubbermaid storage tubs filled with my Lego collection. Most of the tubs comprise one color broken down in different bags of special pieces. The basic bricks and plates are loose on (...) (23 years ago, 20-Apr-01, to lugnet.storage)

  Re: Where in Wal-Mart ... ?

I was under the impression that Wal-mart once claimed their prices were lower because their stores were all the same and they saved on the unloading from the trucks because of the consistency. Hah! From my shopping in Virginia, I would say look for (...) (23 years ago, 16-Apr-01, to lugnet.storage)

  Where in Wal-Mart ... ?

Hi all, Where in Wal-Mart should I be looking in order to find the Akro Mills storage cabinets? I spent awhile wandering in Hardware, but to no avail. Should this be tellnig me that my Wal-Mart doesn't have them? Or am I looking in the wrong place? (...) (23 years ago, 16-Apr-01, to lugnet.storage)

Re: How do you store your shields?

(...) I never considered that solution. Some times, though, the problem isn't so much the container scratching the shields as it is the possibility of the shields scratching each other. james (23 years ago, 13-Apr-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.castle, lugnet.storage)

Re: How do you store your shields?

(...) Those are both really good ideas. I've actually built walls with clips and 1x1 stud bricks to hold the shields, but they've always been slapdash. Perhaps I need to build a dedicated armory for my shields/weapons. Thanks for the advice! james (23 years ago, 13-Apr-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.castle, lugnet.storage)

Re: How do you store your shields?

Most of the solutions already posted are probably the best professional ways to store separate stuff but my method is all econo style. Yogurt Containers! Yogurt containers, comes in three different sizes (at least in canada) and nice and smooth on (...) (23 years ago, 13-Apr-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.castle, lugnet.storage)

Re: How do you store your shields?

(...) Another Lego brick option would be the 1 x 2 x 2/3 brick with Studs on Sides (URL) know I have a ton of these that do not get used much, so stacking them together with 1 x 2 plates in between seems to be a good option for me. They can also be (...) (23 years ago, 13-Apr-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.castle, lugnet.storage)

Re: How do you store your shields?

(...) My mother only recently bought some nice storage cointainers with small sections , ideal for legos. I only have three as of yet , so one I use for Castle Mini figs , one for castle realetd Acessories , and the other for weapons and armor. In (...)   Re: How do you store your shields?

(...) Well, a really big wall of those little 1x1 bricks with a stud on the side (you know, the kind they used to use to attach car headlights) might do the trick. Just stick the posts on the back into the hole in the middle. In the case of the (...) (23 years ago, 12-Apr-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.castle, lugnet.storage)

Re: How do you store your shields?

(...) I put everything in baggies depending on size. So for example, I have all my Black knights in a thick gallon sized bag and inside that bag I have a smaller pint sized bag with all their weapons and shields. I used to have them holding their (...)   Re: How do you store your shields?

(...) them, (...) Well, I've had the best luck with small, chambered plastic containers from craft stores. Most of them stack and have an inner coating that makes them sliker than snail snot inside. That should keep anything from scratching your (...) (23 years ago, 12-Apr-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.castle, lugnet.storage)

How do you store your shields?

Greetings. Perhaps my most vexing storage issue these days is how to store my shields without having them get scratched. Lately, I've just had minifigs holding them, but that takes up baseplates that I'd rather use for other purposes. Does anyone (...)   Re: Building habits

(...) Maybe that's the big difference - I rarely have any particular plan when i start building. I start by fidgeting with some random parts, and then an idea starts to bloom, and eventually it turns into a model (usually a spacecraft). Sometimes I (...)   Re: Building habits

(...) Well, I have a rather substantial collection and I sort by color, with a few exceptions (all my castle walls and doors together, all trans pieces in one big 2 gallon bag, and various odd ball pieces/more than one color together). This is the (...) (24 years ago, 4-Apr-01, to lugnet.storage)

  Re: Building habits

(...) To clarify, I mean don't sort *only* by color. Putting 6x16 plates in with 1x1 bricks and everything in between, all of one color, makes it a lot harder to find something. It sounds from your description that you yourself sort by size/shape, (...) (24 years ago, 4-Apr-01, to lugnet.storage)

  Re: Building habits

(...) Odd. I never did the sort-by-color thing, but I wouldn't've guessed this would be a problem-- I don't tend to build models that are all one piece... :) On the other hand, maybe I do. I use 1x4s a lot more often now that they're easier to find, (...) (24 years ago, 4-Apr-01, to lugnet.storage)

Maybe I'm miss reading this, but I would not suggest to someone who says he's lazy to sort by (...) (24 years ago, 4-Apr-01, to lugnet.storage)

  Re: Building habits

(...) I have a big enough collection to do that, but I've resisted, because when I take apart a model I don't want to have quite so many places to put things. As it is I have only 21 bins in total - though I do use Plano boxes for the little Technic (...) (24 years ago, 4-Apr-01, to lugnet.storage)

  Re: Building habits

(...) I haven't thought about doing it by size but it is hard to find some pieces when every thing is the same color. One helpful thing is that in some containers I have two colors (red + blue gray + yellow) -Kevin W. (24 years ago, 4-Apr-01, to lugnet.storage)

  Re: Building habits

(...) I think this will depend slightly on the size of your collection. As my collection has grown, I have gone to sorting by color to sorting by color _and_ size. That way, I don't have to dig through anything! Exceptions are when a piece is scarce (...) (24 years ago, 4-Apr-01, to lugnet.storage)
