I totally agree that TLG should have used more light gray than they did. When I
had finished building mine, I compared it to a picture in the Star Wars
Technical Journal by Shane Johnson. While the Lego model was very close in
appearence to an original Lucas Film model in the way of detail, It did seem to
lack the correct colors. Now I will be replacing selected parts to give the
model what I feel would be the right colors and some minor details. Pat

Yup, much better...just gutted the Falcon and replaced all the goofy red and blue parts with light and dark grey pieces, what an improvement! UCS X-Wing is next (24 years ago, 11-Jul-00, to lugnet.reviews, lugnet.starwars)

I think the whole color issue is pretty difficult to deal with in the case of the UCS X-wing. The mini-fig X-wing is easy enough to accept in light grey, but I think a UCS X-wing in all light grey would not look very authentic. I think TLG should (...) (24 years ago, 9-Jul-00, to lugnet.reviews, lugnet.starwars)
