People, I feel I must put my two cents in.  First I admit that the UCS X-Wing
is a masterpiece, and put my own large scale X-wing to shame...however.
Picture this set with a good percentage more light grey pieces (or white), for
a more uniform look in the color department.  Next, picture a pre-printed
canopy (what else would it be used for anyway!?) with separate click-hinge
connecting pieces instead of the flimsy uni-canopy that doesn't even stay shut
unless you add a couple 1X2 "vent grill," pieces directly in front of the point
where the canopy lip makes contact with the fuselage.  Notice there's a grey
2X2 round "repulsor" piece under the cockpit that does a nice job of keeping
the cargo bay piece closed with a nice CLICK?  Also, since TLG was so clever as
to include the tiny "flag" pieces that help the foils stay open, why not
install something to keep the foils straight when in the closed position?
Is it me or is the mechanism that opens and closes the foils unnecessarily
complicated?  Why am I complaining?  Because I can...I'm the consumer...and I'm
the one who is $160.00 in the red.  But I really love my UCS Tie...no

(...) That's something I wondered... How come they decided that White was the primary color of the X-wing, when it's really more of an off-white/gray in the movies? White looks a little bit too "clean"... but its not really a gripe, just curious. (...) (24 years ago, 9-Jul-00, to lugnet.reviews, lugnet.starwars)

(...) When I first saw the on-line pictures of the 2 UCS ships, my first impression was that the X-Wing would be the better of the two because it just seemed to be richer in details. Weekend before last I had a small Lego-fest with an out-of- town (...) (24 years ago, 10-Jul-00, to lugnet.reviews, lugnet.starwars)

O mighty X-Wing! Prince of Lego sets!...I have just been reveling in one of the greatest building privileges and experiences of my life...the UCS X- Wing...greater and more satisfying than both the Whirl and Wheel Super Truck and the Snowspeeder (1) (...)
