Let's face the facts.  We are going to be quite disappointed with next year's
Millenium Falcon set.  They really seem to have gone for the minimum possible
set that could still resemble the MF.  With the use of the saucers, we can't
even say it will be a particularly good set for parts.

I agree.  Those saucers scare the bejubies out of me.  One thing we don't know
is if they have detailed any of the interior or if it is just the cockpit.
Does the model double as a playset?  I guess we don't know yet.  If it doesn't
I would be sceptical as to its part selection being that good except for the
fact that there seems to be alot of gray.

If they detail the interior however there may be several quality parts in this
set that can be used in other scenarios.

Okay, here goes <donning flame-retardant suit>:

I like the MF prototype as seen in that picture (knowing that part of the colour
separation is missing).

Sure, sure, I may be the ONLY ONE, but with a little saucer decoration and in
varied shades of grey/white, it might actually be decent.  I believe the cockpit is
a new piece, and will probably look like that--my only big gripe--so that you can
fit four minifigs in it, but I'm looking forward to having undecorated or
slightly-decorated large saucer sections and the round underside-hulls that are
almost certain to accompany it.  I'm going to withhold my final analysis, but so
far, I'm happier with it than I thought I'd be.  Remember how lousy we all assumed
the X-Wing would be, and it ended up being better than we'd expected?  As far as
playset-nature, I'd look for a Kenner-like central room

Maybe my faith is a bit old-fashioned, but I think the MF prototype isn't bad,
compressed to short'n'fat though it is.  I'll be happy to have it, if only for
parts.
