Ok, i found another tiny little nitpick with the movie.  When Qui-Gon
first visits Watto to buy parts for the ship he tries the Jedi mind trick on
Watto, who laughs at his feeble attempt.  Yet later on in the film Watto • rolls
his "chance cube" to decide which slave would be freed if Anakin won the
race.  Did Watto so soon forget about Jedi powers?  So after the race when
Watto says that Qui-Gon tricked him, he was right "from a certain point of
view" :-p          - Rich

Better yet, who told everybody about the Jedi Mind Trick?  And if it's so
well known, why hasn't anyone figured out a defense against it?  And if
there's no defense against it, why aren't Jedi reviled everywhere?

Better yet, why are the good guys routinely using mind control?

I also thought about that.  It seems to me that Jedi are very self
serving.  They are definately not Paladins, with a strict code of morality or
chivalry.  It seems that they work towards achieving 'good' but with a 'by any
means necessary' methodology.  We all know OWK has no problems with bending
the truth a bit.  And QGJ is supposed to be very Rougish, often going against
Jedi council doctrine.  - Rich

It's also interesting to compare the skill levels of young Obi-Wan, Gui-Gon
and old Obi-Wan.
