Today we're proud to officially announce the full details of the BricksWest
2003 Imperial Star Destroyer Timed Build competition!

At BricksWest, we're assembling a team of up to 20 hearty builders to build
one LEGO 10030 Imperial Star Destroyer AS FAST AS THEY CAN! Structure will
be up to the team...tackle sub-assemblies, set up an assembly line system,
whatever the team decides. The only goal is to build this monster QUICK! As
the largest LEGO set ever sold, the Imperial Star Destroyer weighs in at
3104 pieces and 2 feet wide by 3 feet long...this team of builders will have
their work cut out for them! (Good thing the Emperor won't be watching over
their shoulders...he hates it when his engines of destruction take too long
to assemble..just ask the crew of the second Death Star)

•Each team member will receive a From Bricks To Bothans™ water bottle for
participating.

•Each team member will have their name entered in a drawing to WIN the
Imperial Star Destroyer model they helped build! That's a maximum of a 1 in
20 chance to take home the largest and most expensive LEGO set EVER! Team
members must participate in at least 50% of the build time to be eligible
for the drawing. If a team member must drop out before the half-way point,
no new members will be added (improving the odds for the remaining team
members to win the set). Drawing will take place during the closing
ceremonies on Sunday, February 16. Winner need not be present to win.

•Sign-up on-site only. Contest is limited to the first 20 BricksWest paid
attendees to sign-up on the official sign-up form available at the
registration table. Team will be responsible for picking a team leader, who
will manage members, keep official time, and be the final determination of
which members will be eligible for the drawing.

•Build to begin at 10:00PM on Friday, February 14. If a break is required,
time will be officially stopped at 1:00AM Saturday, February 15, and will
commence in the next available free play period as decided by the build team.

•The team will earn bragging rights in the LEGO fan community...untill
someone else comes along to try and break the BricksWest time.

Contest sponsored by From Bricks To Bothans. Prize provided by the LEGO Company.

(...) A question that arose on a mailing list I'm on... what things can be brought with to be used during the attempt? (the answer to this question binds all the successor record attempts too, of course...) For example, bringing a complete already (...) (21 years ago, 26-Jan-03, to lugnet.events.brickswest)
