Um, when we said ‘leftover’ we meant that they were a byproduct of some ‘leaf-cell’ research at a neighboring facility. They were slated for ‘recycling’, so we ‘liberated’ them to ‘put them to use’, ahem, I mean ‘allow them to lead semi-productive lives’. Oh, and we had a surplus as a result of our brain drive. We do try to match the brains with appropriate ‘careers’ of course. There is, however, still a danger that we’ll end up with appliances with minds of their own...

PS: if the brain in your cart is actually a dog brain or a monkey brain or something, then carry on, it’s fine by us.

PPS: In all seriousness, I am currently working on a moonbase module for the brain-trust, a consulting group which links many brains in jars, some of which will have some sophisticated bodies. I really wish you would stop coming up with the same sort of ideas that I do at about the same time Ley, it’s starting to look like we’re cheating.

Now, now. Before anyone accuses anyone else of employing spybots and such, I’d chalk it up to the zeitgeist. I think that it’s clear we’re not the only ones after all, and Phil Painter’s sigfig has been around for a while. Given a surfeit of brains, we (collectively) were bound to come up with uses. However, if you persist in coming up with the same ideas as me, I may have to form an organization called the Cyber-brain-suspicion. Oh, yeah and I’m closing my curtains now.

Peace and mindless fun,

Professor Whateverly

PS. You really shouldn’t talk in your sleep, you know, just in case there are microphones nearby.
