Ley- this thing rocks!! There are so many cool details, and your unique way of putting bricks together shines through in spades. It even has a color scheme! (heh)

Thank you so much, Tony. I did try to approximate the colour of the original, except that white takes the place of the original metallic colour. I know that the Space Hippies struck fear into some hearts here, but I generally use colour appropriate to the design.

That is truly beautiful. Canopies that slide forward are definitely underused, and this looks like it slides far enough to give plenty of room for even clumsy fingers to fit the guy in.

Thanks again. I had thought of putting in stops to keep the canopy on but I opted for the ability to slide it all the way off in case I needed to fix something inside or upgrade the flight computer, so, yeah, there’s plenty of room for fingers, clumsy or otherwise.

Without the fun of links, it wouldn’t be Ley. Now... I think that clear macaroni bricks also came on one of the Santa Fe car sets, though clear parts from the 70’s are likely a better color match to the grey canopies.

Yeah, there are a few little colour-frustrations, where the parts aren’t available in the colour I would prefer. I like how the macaroni bricks round out the front of the canopy too.

I would like to see the tail wings fixed to each other somehow, or better stabilized, though I can see that may not be an easy task. At first I thought that the Technic beams on the wingtips were a little off, but then I realized that you covered the studs but left in connection points for pins to allow addition of all kinds of fun stuff.

You know it! I wanted to present the pure form, without the clutter of all the things I could attach. I think it’s in keeping with the uncluttered quality of the original P-38. Besides, I’ve already maxed out the weapons per stud ratio... As for the tail wings, they do have a certain vestigial quality, and the fact that they don’t connect allows them to move. They could be solar panels...

PS. Builder’s notes will come later, along with details of the crazy SNOT that went into the fuselage. It’s 6 ways all studs in BTW.

I can’t wait to see these. The effect is great.

As Promised: here are some pics of the central portion, the fiendish SNOT at the heart of the ship, the wierd math upon which all is based...I’ll leave you with the head-scratching, the moments of discovery, the wtfness, the sheer ouchness for now and I’ll be back with further explication, etc. after a while. I must be off for now...

Peace and interlocking puzzles,

Professor Whateverly
