Im not real keen on bump posts, and I dont usually like to see them.(1)
The best bump posts, in my view, are the ones that you dont realise are
actually bumps, because the post talks about a new facet of the topic or brings
additional information up, or whatever, so that the reader gets a new reason to
think about the topic.
Those posts, skillfully done, perform the same bump function but have the
additional bonus of actually adding more value to the thread.
I hope those thinking of out and out bumping would consider this approach
whenever possible. Hope that helps.
1 - although Ive done a bump or two in my day, unfortunately.

I'm not one to go stirring up potential arguements but I too wondered if anyone had actually noticed the post - the only indication of its function is the hit counters on (...) (21 years ago, 14-Jan-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)
