I received this from S@H yesterday and finished building it today.
It's an impressive model. At 16" long, it's not as big as the Technic
version, but it packs in a fair amount of functionality. The front and rear
wheels retract using neat mechanisms, the top doors open (of course) the
Canada arm (that's what it's called, right?) is jointed in 2 places using
both of the newly introduced pieces as seen in the Technic droids and in the
AT-ST legs. The wing flaps move as does a section of the tail fin.
There are a fair amount of Technic elements in the set, used for the
undercarriage mechanisms and in the engines/tail area. However this does not
look like your average Technic set -- it's more Model Team in that respect.
Apart from the Technic bits, its made almost entirely from 'traditional'
elements -- bricks, plates and slopes. There's no juniorisation in sight.
The wings and chassis is 3 layers of plates thick, much like the original
classic space sets. There's no 'in-filling' with different colour pieces to
ease construction.
It comes with a satellite which stows away in the hold, although it's a bit
of a job fitting it and the arm in and getting the doors to close. This uses
two 2x2 dishes (http://peeron.com/inv/parts/4740) in gold and one in silver.
There also a new (to me at least) piece, which I see is also in the AT-AT,
http://peeron.com/inv/parts/33243, which matches the curve of
http://peeron.com/inv/parts/6005, of which 44 are used for the doors!
You can see pictures at

All in all a neat set.
