Hi all,
Heres a new MOC of mine, the T.A.S.S.
The T.A.S.S. is equipped with a main communication/scanning antennae, four
backup antennas, two spaceward scanning devises, twelve small thrusters for
position fine-tuning, eight solar arrays, four weather tracking components, four
military missile tracking systems, four dataphoto photoprocessors, three
secondary data relay dishes, one emergency miniature backup satellite, and a
human access port for repairs.
Building Notes
With the release of the new Discovery Sets, I wanted to build something more
NASA-ish. This project started out as a deep space probe, but it quickly
evolved into an Earth-orbiting satellite. I built the main pod with the
little emergency satellite first, and then added the four arms. I made one arm
longer than the rest because I wanted the Voyager 2 lopsided look, and it made
it feel very NASA-ish. After that I added the small greebles (radar dishes,
tiles with printing, antennas) and rebuilt some sections. By this time, the
probe had morphed into a satellite, and so I added the solar panels. I dont
own any Space Port sets, and the ISS wasnt available then (it is now, yay!), so
I had to make do with all those blue grills from the TIE Fighter. Overal Im
quite pleased with the model.
PLMKWYT and dont be afraid to criticize.

| -snip- (...) -snip- Adm Wells, This is really a nice little ditty. I like your current trend of probes and satellites. This certainly would fit within a futuristic, NASA-esque line such as LOM. Not quite as far as PCS, but in that 'in between' era. (...) (21 years ago, 14-Jun-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build, FTX)

| (...) OOh, I like. Satellites are cool. I like the shape of this one. The solar panels are a nice touch- you don't see them much in .space nowadays- must be some advanced magneto-fusion reactor or something. And the satellite-within-a-satellite is (...) | (...) Nathan, Hey there. Overall I think you have a very innovative design here. I was interested in some satellite ideas and yours has stirred some. I have to commend you on the unique design of the main antennae. Two pieces of criticism: 1 - As (...) (21 years ago, 24-Jul-03, to lugnet.space, FTX)
