    Go Gatchaman B.O.P.! —Gil Shaw
Greetings, Just stumbled across Robin Harbron's incredible sculpt of this early anime classic, the Phoenix: (URL) only post as I haven't seen Robin before in the forums. Robin, if you are out there I apologize if I've trumped your (...) (22 years ago, 8-Nov-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Go Gatchaman B.O.P.! —Chris Giddens
(...) Man, I built versions of that ship a million times as a kid. A plan to build a minifig scale version has always danced around in my head. Robin, excellent work. I especially like the way you detailed the venty things near the nose cone. I can (...) (22 years ago, 8-Nov-02, to lugnet.space)

(...) I remember that show. I built that ship too. Fond memories. Wasn't there a ship that could land in the back of it above the engines? (22 years ago, 8-Nov-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Go Gatchaman B.O.P.! —Jeff Jardine
(...) Wow. This is really great! My version of the Phoenix (sometime in the early 80s) was the first MOC I was really proud of, even though it was built almost entirely out of basic bricks. (...) I thought it was Tiny that was in charge of firing (...) (22 years ago, 12-Nov-02, to lugnet.space)

(...) Hmm...maybe it was a rerun on the Cartoon Network...I saw it way back in the early 80's and their ship could transform into a fiery bird at times. I remember the birds suits too...I think we are talking about the same show :-) (22 years ago, 8-Nov-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Go Gatchaman B.O.P.! —Gil Shaw
Yes indeed, that was the show. The original Japanese name is Gatchaman, but was imported to the west as Battle of the Planets. The group itself goes by the collective name of G-Force. Many intros often had G-Force superimposed on the opening (...) (22 years ago, 8-Nov-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Go Gatchaman B.O.P.! —John R. Beck
(...) The main bad guy was Zoltar (or something like that)and it was called "Battle of the Planets" in the U.S. but was an import from Japan I guess. There were five people in bird costumes and they rean around and did stuff. :-) (22 years ago, 8-Nov-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Go Gatchaman B.O.P.! —Eric Sophie
You know what was funny too, was that the character named Keeops (sp?) was always making those blip-tee blop sounds, the story was that he was always cursing and that was the way it was "censored" or masked. When Keeops made those sounds you knew (...) (22 years ago, 9-Nov-02, to lugnet.space)

Dude, that's cool. I really liked the front- I wonder how he filled in the gaps caused by the hinged bricks. Never seen whatever this is from,(don't watch any anime for that matter) but it is still very cool. Thanks for pointing this out, Gil! -JHK (...) (22 years ago, 9-Nov-02, to lugnet.space)

Gil: Thanks for pointing out the pictures :) I know I'm late in responding, but it's taken this long for me to get posting privileges, and it was killing me watching folks talk about it without being able to say anything :) Thanks to all for (...)    Welcome Robin! Glad there's now a voice to go with the model! As has been said in posts leading up to this, it's really an excellent piece of work. The subject matter definately strikes a nostalgic chord with many folks here. Aye, the minifig (...) (22 years ago, 20-Nov-02, to lugnet.space)
