Presenting the Suborbital Defender —Jeremy H. Sproat
It swivels, it shoots...it scores. Oh, and it also flies circles around its hapless prey. It's the... *DUHN* *DUHN* *DUHN* ...Suborbital Defender! (URL) to Jonathan Mizner for letting me use the cockpit from his Redtail model! And as always, LMKWYT (...) (22 years ago, 2-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Presenting the Suborbital Defender —Duane Hess
(...) I like the feel of the model. I has a definite futuristic military feel as ground based artillary. The fact that it can also fly is just a bonus. What I really like though, is the ladder detail. I never thought of using tilt-bearing hinge tops (...) (22 years ago, 2-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Presenting the Suborbital Defender —Jeremy H. Sproat
(...) Heh, cool, thanks! :-, That hinge top piece is one of my favorite greebles. It's so dang useful! Cheers, - jsproat (22 years ago, 3-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Presenting the Suborbital Defender —Zac Soden
(...) Superbly marvellous! I feel that that style of fighter perfectly embodies what the futuristic fighter should look like. Beautiful work on the engines. Love the wing/engine arrangement. Great work fitting the gantry inboard! Keep up the good (...) (22 years ago, 2-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Presenting the Suborbital Defender —Jeremy H. Sproat
(...) Thanks, Zac! It all just kinda flowed together once I slapped some big guns onto Mizner's cockpit ball. The engines were a bit problematic, they're SNOT'ed all to heck, but I kinda like how they turned out. :-, (...) But, I can't wait! I know (...) (22 years ago, 3-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Presenting the Suborbital Defender —Jonathan Mizner
That. Rocks. The color, the engines, the ladder, the guns... An absolutely awesome militaristic MOC. Is there any possibility we might get a chance to see the detail on the engines or the spot where the pod mount attaches to the pad? Also, how does (...)          Re: Presenting the Suborbital Defender —Jeremy H. Sproat
(...) The cockpit? ;-) (...) I'll have some pics up for this soon. (...) Well, this secret I can tell you now. It locks into place because I decree it so. :-, I thought of putting some locking piece in there, but it just got bulky. I did tighten up (...) (22 years ago, 3-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Presenting the Suborbital Defender —Mark Sandlin
(...) Does it have a leather seat? Mmmmmm, leather seat. ~GAMH (22 years ago, 2-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Presenting the Suborbital Defender —Jeremy H. Sproat
(...) Look buddy, the seat is brown. Either it's leather, or the previous owner couldn't handle the G's. I'm pretty sure it's leather. Check it out -- it has AM/FM radio, too. If I give it a spoiler, I'll just throw it in for free, would you buy it? (...) (22 years ago, 3-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Presenting the Suborbital Defender —Mladen Pejic
I like this model, yup, sure do... ;-) It has a very clean and "efficient" look to it. Everything that it needs to function is there; no superfluous parts. Anyways, good job Jeremy. (...) (22 years ago, 2-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Presenting the Suborbital Defender —Jeremy H. Sproat
(...) The only thing I think it's missing is fuel tanks -- but I wiggle my fingers like this and *poof* it magically flies anyway! :-, I think that the reaction mass is probably the single most common neglected component of spacecraft seen here, but (...)          Re: Presenting the Suborbital Defender —Tom Sciortino
"Sproaticus" <jsproat@io.com> wrote in message news:H08vw7.As9@lugnet.com... <snip> (...) fingers (...) neglected (...) thin (...) In my universe, the engines double as the power source (ie, electrical, weapons, lights) and the prupulsion source. (...) (22 years ago, 3-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Presenting the Suborbital Defender —Luke Ma
More than you want to know indeed: The anti-particle particle pairs you mention happen as a result of quantum theory and the uncertainty principle. Since energy can never quite be zero, random fluctuations can appear, and then annhilate without (...) (22 years ago, 3-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Presenting the Suborbital Defender —John Henry Kruer
(...) That's really nice! I would be scared of it! I love how it turns from a ground consule to a gyrating spaceship. Which did you design first, the spacecraft or the laser turret? -JHK (22 years ago, 2-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Presenting the Suborbital Defender —Jeremy H. Sproat
(...) I envision it kinda snaking and twisting its way through an atmosphere... Heh heh -- you should see it dance! Gyrate is a very appropriate word. :-D (...) First, I saw Mizner's cockpit ball and said to myself, "it will be mine... oh YES it (...) (22 years ago, 3-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Presenting the Suborbital Defender —Jesse Alan Long
(...) It is a nice space craft, indeed. It kind of reminds me mainly of three things. It reminds me of that guy who built that Babylon 5 (must not use shift button when writing numbers) space craft. It also reminds me, especially the front section, (...)         Re: Presenting the Suborbital Defender —Chris Rudesill
It looks like something from an anime. Cool. (22 years ago, 3-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Presenting the Suborbital Defender —Alexander Zwagerman
It looks great, Jeremy. Fast, dangerous, highly maneuverable. Love to see more ships like this. Alexander (...) (22 years ago, 3-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Deconstructing the Defender (Was: Presenting the Suborbital Defender) —Jeremy H. Sproat
I got a LOT of requests for instructions for this model. While I can't provide detailed instructions just yet, I did snap a few pics showing the techniques I used in making the Suborbital Defender. Check it out here: (URL) everyone for the kind and (...)         Re: Presenting the Suborbital Defender —Gil Shaw
Very nice....very nice indeed! It really pushes the functionality of the cockpit-as-weapon to new heights. Besides, it's just plain pretty. Cool. Cheers, -G (...) (22 years ago, 4-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Presenting the Suborbital Defender —Tim Rice
Sweeeet. I love it! Especially the big swivel laser cannon thing! So cool. And how it can attack and act as a defense platform! Disaster Master-- (...) (22 years ago, 6-Aug-02, to lugnet.space)
