I tried--they seem to come apart easier than they lock together.  I also think
building them into the actual hardpoint wall of a ship/station would give it
the added strength--if not there's always technic beams--i also modified the
file on brickshelf cause i had the origional drawing wrong (number of bricks
were off)

(...) I think though for smaller ships it would probably be excessively large. Perhaps we need several standard sizes, and larger ships can have both types... (22 years ago, 23-Jul-02, to lugnet.space)
