Dear Scrutinizer:

I think we need to have two things cleared up:

1. Now that I am building with MLcad, I realize that it is quite hard to
know if a certain element does or does not exist in a particular color in
the real world (the Peeron and Vatima databases are great resources, but far
from complete). I suggest that we drop that as a prohibition in the CAD
designs (after all, some of the fun of CAD work is to do that which cannot
now be done with real world bricks because of color limitations).

2. Can a person "fake" in CAD elements that which exists in the real world
of bricks but that has not yet been modelled as a DAT file?  This came up
when I wanted to put a compass into one of my CAD models, the part exists in
the real world but not in the CAD world -- it CAN be faked with two 2x2
round tiles (one atop the other, the bottom one black, the top one clear).

Anyway, two of the models I have been working on during the last week
involve the first issue (I am not sure that the glass element I am using was
ever available as Trans-Yellow). Another model involves the second issue,
but I have a work around at the ready and I can live without having to fake
things if it comes to that. As you may surmise, I am trying to tweak things
as little as possible, based on my knowledge of what is available in both
the real world and via CAD.

Interestingly, if you give the CAD modellers a break on the first issue, you
even things out by recognizing that they are limited in other ways via the
second issue in any case.

I need an ad-jude-ication, please...

You know, looking at this REALLY awful design (whta's it called -- "The Air-Catcher"?) prompted me to make some changes to the nose in MLCad, a yellow Wedge 3x4 plate and a Wedge 4x4 w/ BT logo, and I realized that I wasn't even sure if the former (...)
