Okay then, I officially vollunteer to be one of the three.  I have lots of
time, some webspace (though if I got a brickshelf account, I could have lots
more), and I'll take bribes in US dollars or gold pressed latinum (sorry,
just got back from alt.binaries.startrek   ;)

So what dates do you want to start and end?

How about we aim to have the rules ironed out and posted early next week?
As for the end time, we should a month to build.  We can cut it off before
Christmas to allow time for voting afterward, or we can cut it off around
the end of the year to allow people to build through their winter breaks.
I'd prefer the latter, but I'm not too worried either way.

For categories, how about something along the lines of:
1: Small Ships (ie Invader)
2: Bigger Ships (ie Renegade)
3: Small Ground Vehicles (ie Alienator)
4: Bigger Ground Vehicles (ie Battrax)
5: Bases (ie Message Intercept)

Obviously, if we went with these categories then we'd have to define
"small".  And we need to decide whether there is an upper size limit.  Last
year we had a maximum size at around 1000 pieces.  This was because the
point of the contest was to design something that *could have been a set*
and Lego didn't make sets that big back then.

So far we appear to have Jude volunteering to coordinate voting and Tom
volunteering for contest maintenance.  I'm still willing to help out with
rules and such.  On the other hand, I'm a busy guy and I'd quite happily
drop out.

I agree with ending after Christmas too. We could then have one week of
voting and wrap it up by January 7th. I do not want the voting to take forever.

Are we going to limit voting to those who enter only?

BTW, My ISP is changing my domain name next week so my email will be a
different address soon.

Jude

<much editing> Ending it after Christmas sounds good. How about midnight, Dec 31 - (that is, the eve before newyear's eve). I don't think judging will be that big a problem if we keep the range of categories small, as you suggested. I do have one (...) (23 years ago, 14-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.contests, lugnet.space)
