"could not open serial port" generally means one of these things:
1) You told NQC to use a serial port that doesn't exist. By default, it
will try to use
Mac - modem port
Win - COM1
Unix - /dev/ttyS0
You can override this with a -S option.
2) Under Linux (and other flavors of Unix), /dev/ttyS0 is often
protected so that only root can access it. If this is the case then you
either need to change the permissions on /dev/ttyS0, or always run as
root.
3) Something else is already using the serial port. Palm's HotSync
software is sometimes the culprit, but there can be others.
