  Motor problems

Anyone had any motor problems with their Discovery set? The other night one of my motors refused to run every now and then(motor was just connected to the scout). If I gently rotated the motor shaft by hand it would suddenly start working.... This (...) (26 years ago, 7-Feb-00, to lugnet.robotics.scout)

Re: Fiber-optic connection between Scout & MicroScout

(...) Hey, wow! It turns out that the thin portions of the FO cables are the same thickness (or virtually the same, for all practical purposes) as the inside components of LEGO TECHNIC Flex System cables! In other words, not only do they fit nicely (...) (26 years ago, 1-Feb-00, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.robotics.scout, lugnet.robotics.microscout, lugnet.technic)

Fiber-optic connection between Scout & MicroScout

An observation... It is well-documented that the Scout can communicate with the Micro Scout using its red-light emmiter. The optic fibers transmit light quite well for this purpose with one drawback - only one end of the fiber has a connector. I've (...)   NQC 2.1 in beta test (Scout support, fast firmware)

NQC 2.1 b1 is available at (URL) two "big" features are fast firmware downloading (4x speed) and preliminary support for the Scout. Emphasis on "preliminary". It is enough to do some basic NQC stuff on the Scout, but most of the nifty Scout features (...) (26 years ago, 9-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc, lugnet.robotics.scout)

(...) It's actually a five part trilogy, and there is also a weird short story published in one of the books written by the same author (Douglass Adams) Greg "That's my CAR!" Majewski (URL) (26 years ago, 5-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics.scout)

  RE: Exploration Mars Availalble?

I am finished finally with the XCam anywhere rover. I just need to document the setup on the web site...soon. Today I am moving all of the Legos and computers into a spare bedroom to prepare our house for a yearly xmas party...so maybe soon is a bit (...) (26 years ago, 5-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics.scout)

(...) It is also 'generically' the title of the entire series, comprising a trilogy in four parts... Personally Marvin says it all. (26 years ago, 5-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics.scout)

  Re: What is the scout?

(...) The 'Scout', is the controller that comes with the Lego Robotics Discovery set, whereas the RCX, is the one that comes with the RIS. The units are very similar in size, but the Scout (I think) has only two inputs/outputs, against the RCX's (...) (26 years ago, 5-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics.scout)

  Byte Codes, Monitoring and Downloading

I've corrected a couple mistakes in the byte codes and added some notes on how the ScoutTool program monitors the Scout. I also added a couple lines on how to download a program to the Scout. (URL) for Palm Pilot users: (URL) Kory (26 years ago, 5-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics.scout)

Dave Baum <dbaum@spambgoneenteract.com> wrote in message news:dbaum-031299213...act.com... ... (...) Yes, the lego tools do this too. (...) Registers are a good way to think of them. I wish we had a stack too. We will need to access these for NQC (...) (26 years ago, 4-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics.scout)

  Using NQC with Scout

It appears that the download protocol and control structure bytecodes are identical between the RCX and Scout. This means that NQC can be used as-is to generate some Scout code. There are a few caveats, however... 1) You'll need to put the Scout (...) (26 years ago, 4-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics.scout)

Re: Scout memory map and variable extraction

Hi Bert, I plan on doing a memory map on my site soon. Maybe this weekend. What I had found earlier is different than what you've found. I'll have to look into this some more. My findings (in Hex--sorry I know you like decimal): 233 2 bytes, a (...) (26 years ago, 4-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics.scout, lugnet.robotics)

Scout memory map and variable extraction

To allow for easier debugging of the Scout I've written a program (in Quick Basic) that retreives variables from the Scout while it is running a program. The variables (listed 0 -16) are displayed on the PC screen and refreshed a the touch of the (...) (26 years ago, 3-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics.scout, lugnet.robotics)

RE: Psion 3 communication with scout?

Thanks. I already have your list of byte codes and the Lego SDK doc. All very useful. I look forward to your examples of downloading!   Re: Psion 3 communication with scout?

The byte codes are listed here: (URL) plan to add more documentation and examples in the near future. I'll have an example of downloading there too. The documentation for the individual commands is in the Scout SDK, available at Lego's web site. (...) (26 years ago, 3-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics.scout)

  Psion 3 communication with scout?

I'm looking forward to becoming a scout owner this Xmas :-) In the meantime, does anyone know if there exists any software for a Psion 3 to download software into a scout via Psion serial<->IR tower or ideally, Psion IR<->Scout IR port?! If not, is (...) (26 years ago, 3-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics.scout)
