I may be stepping out on a limb, but have you tried reformatting the laptop that doesn't work? What about using NQC or the original Lego software to test and make sure its not RoboLab in combination with your laptop that is causing errors. Ok, (...) I tested with the same installation, IR tower & rcx module with another laptop (by Dell) built with infrared port, wireless network card, but with no bluetooth built in. They work fine... PC: toshiba - P25 series model with four usb 2.0 ports, an bluetooth/wi-fi capability, w/ infrared port built in as well. After I have done trouble-shooting for hours on my toshiba-laptop, the point of failure seems to be between the ir tower & the rcx...: - the ir tower did insteed install properly... OS: winXP Robolab : 2.5.2 machine: Toshiba Satellite-p25... coming with 4 usb ports and a IR port. (...) Unfortunately the Service Pack 1 does not seem to work properly to upgrade from 2.5 to 2.5.2. The best way is to get a copy of the current Robolab ver 2.5.2 which is called "ROBOLAB with Training Missions" from your local LEGO distributor. (...) Is there any way to zoom into the icons in robolab, they are a bit tiny and I wanted to know if I could make them look bigger so its easier to see. Also does the RCX Code (or RIS program that comes with the mindstorms kit) have the capability to (...) The system sound 1-sec delay explains some of my observation. The rest is explained, I think, byt the fact that my test program was also using data logging to record the timer values. The problem does not come from container's container, but from the fact that ROBOLAB adds a 1-sec delay to each system sound call. Instead use play-tone here. There is only a 2/10 sec pause. It seems that RCX programs created with RoboLab sometimes have slow response times, like there are extra delays ocurring between the program steps. I especially noticed this in a recent program using indirection via "Container's Container". It gets (...) (23 years ago, 12-May-03, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.robolab)
