| | Re: RIS 2.0 or 1.5 (minimum requirements)
| I'd suggest not worrying about your system being underpowered. If you've ever programmed before you'll probably want to drop the Lego GUI development environment ASAP and switch to something more powerfull. A first step is to try out NQC which your (...) | Thank you very much Ben for taking the time to help me. I called up Lego and they say they're sending me the CD, but it'll take 2-3 weeks! | | USB / x86 open sys based RCX replacement??
| After playing with my legos, RCX, NQC, stuff for awhile, I find a more powerful RCX with proviions for more inputs and outputs and lots more memory, CPU power, options, and interconnections, seems like it would be desireable. | | USB vs Serial Tower Response Time
| Several recent posts have mentioned significantly slower performance of the USB Tower when compared to the serial Tower. After several measurements, I've concluded that the USB Tower is "natively" only slightly slower (~20 milliseconds per message) (...) (21 years ago, 21-Aug-03, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

| (...) The RCX 1.0 in RIS 1.0 has a jack, the RCX 1.0 in RIS 1.5 doesn't (unfortunately, I have two of them). The 2.0 on the RCX 2.0 is purely for decoration, there's no user visible difference whatsoever to the RCX 1.0 without the jack.
