Hello - In the past I have burned out serial port towers, so I recently acquired the USB version of the IR tower. Can the RCX 1.0 be upgraded to the latest RIS 2.0 firmware? If it can, are there any differences, or lacks there of, between the RCX 1.0 upgraded to RIS 2.0 firmware and the RCX 2.0 that ships with the RIS 2.0? (22 years ago, 6-Jun-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

That's because the current IR tower requires USB and Windows 95 didn't support USB (well, except for Windows 95B but I think most of the USB drivers were custom/non-standard). Hi, I have RIS 1.5 and with an RCX 2.0 brick, I have downloaded the SDK 2.0 but the sample programs report Error (0xe0050c98) from VPBrick vpb: bad (unsupported) PBrick type Is this because I am using RIS 1.5? The new 2.1.4 Version of pbForth has a minor fix that affected programmers using the MARKER word. I recommend you get the new 2.1.2 GUI while you're at it because it is less agressive in stripping comments when uploading scripts. This was causing (...) (...) What might be doable and best is a documented bus extension (a card plug-in) slot. This could be taken to the extreme by making a cpu unit that just has power (plug-in option of course) and memory (expandable of course) and maybe the IR or (...) I'd be happy with a good "official" LEGO SONAR sensor and a fixed version of the LEGO Rotation Sensor (without the lost "clicks" bug) On the RCX side, I'd like a RCX 3.0 with 6+ sensor inputs and more outputs (and more RAM.
