  IR transmission

Well, in my quest for new and neat things to add to my robot, I've decided to start exploring IR transmission. I downloaded the REC80 routines, and have figured out that one of my TV/VCR/cable box remotes is compatable for the TV and VCR. It gives (...)   (no subject)

RE: Attached processors... I have considered different ways of refining PWM speed controls on the HB, and have decided to try adding another 'HC11, and use the PWM code example in the Handbook. This seems easier (and smaller) than building it from (...) (28 years ago, 8-Aug-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: piggyback pentium/powerPC

(...) Or use the 32-bit Hitachi SH7032 microcontroller. An evaluation board sells for only $100 (I bought mine from Marshall Industries). It runs at 20MHZ, has 4GB address space, DRAM circuitry, 10-bit A/D, several timers, and I forgot what else. (...) (28 years ago, 8-Aug-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  piggyback pentium/powerPC

Already serveral ideas have been mentioned on processor upgrades. Instead of such a quantum jump, why not instead a small bunt. ie. Motorola has recently announced availability of the 68HC12. Although certainly not the screamers of a PowerPC, et.al. (...) (28 years ago, 8-Aug-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: DC10 turning

(...) That's how I've been doing it. I'm still having trouble turning. I partially solved the problem by applying some belt dressing (from my local Kragen auto parts store :-) to the treads, which helps some with the grinding I get from the drive (...)   Musings regarding Handyboard Expansion & Interfacing

More "musings":- ***...*** * MUSINGS ON THE SUBJECT OF HANDYBOARD INTERFACING * ***...*** * Generating Chip Selects and Address Signals * ***...*** These are my thoughts on (re)generating some needed signals on an expansion board to allow more (...)   RE: DC10 turning

(...) A _long_ time ago, Dave Williams and I got into a discussion about tank treads and turning etc. I ran some experiments on a Radio Shack Sherman Tank toy I was using (the original "RoboTank" in my case) In a nutshell we proposed a mathematical (...)   Re: piggyback pentium/powerPC

(...) Pentium and low power can hardly be used in the same sentence. (...) If someone wants to design a piggyback 32 bit machine for the handy board, I will suggest the 68360. It is really powerful, and has all the glue logic in it for several megs (...) (28 years ago, 7-Aug-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  DC10 turning

Hi Jeff (...) I had the same problem. I got some improvement by running the treads in opposite directions. Turns real quick then! And the drive tread does not have to carry the whole force of the turn plus "slip" or pivot the stationary tread. Keith (...) (28 years ago, 7-Aug-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  piggyback pentium/powerPC

I realize that what I'm asking for is hardly cheap, but I'd like to piggyback some real computing power with the handy board. Can anyone suggest components for: - a small low-power pentium/powerPC with min 32MB RAM and a pair of serial (...) (28 years ago, 7-Aug-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
