  IC problems, part III!

Alright, one more fun fact - the old shareware version of IC works fine, running under the Win 95 MS-DOS prompt. I think that eliminates any possibility of a hardware problem, meaning it's IC 3.1 at fault! Hbdl works fine as well, under Win 95. (...) (28 years ago, 18-May-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  IC problems, part II

Also, IC ctually _works_ if I'm downloading something with my internal modem. This is probably slowing down the transfers IC is making enough for them to work. Once the download stops, however, IC quits working again. Truly strange. (28 years ago, 18-May-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  IC download errors

Today, IC 3.1 has decided it no longer wants to communicate with my handy board. It detects the board, I select the Handy Board .icd file, and then it tries to download the default files to the board. However, it errors out on each retry, and gets (...)   IC for Win 95

Has anyone heard of a release date for a new version of IC for Win 95? The bugs in the present beta are getting... irritating. Maybe I should write a $100 check to Newton Labs and see what happens, eh? :-) (28 years ago, 17-May-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  encoders w/sonar?

After I slap a Polaroid sonar module onto my robot, I'd like to add some shaft encoders. However, it appears that the shaft encoder routines and the sonar routines both use some of the same ports on the digital headers. Is it possible to use other (...)   Re: voltage regulator current rating

(...) Is there any current going directly into GND from the LM2931Z-5.0? If so, would this cause any "extra" heat other than from the current the HB draws? -Eric (28 years ago, 16-May-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  SPI Bus problem solved!!!!!!

Hi-dee ho, I'm happy to report that I've successfully gotten a Handyboard to communicate to a Miniboard via the Synchronous Serial bus (SPI). The secret was (as I alluded to in my last post on the subject) setting the DDRD (Data direction for port (...) (28 years ago, 16-May-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Available J sockets on Hboard?

Are there any unused sockets on the Handyboard? For example, the bottom 2 sockets in J6 look to be unused, and I could use a couple of sockets to bring out some signals. Now that the thing is assembled, it's difficult to follow traces on the top (...) (28 years ago, 15-May-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Thanks for all the replys on the L293D

  Re: Downloading without AC adapter

(...) Yes. The interface will draw power from the HB's battery. Don't leave the HB plugged into the interface w/o the adapter for extended periods, because the interface will drain the HB's battery even if the HB is switched off. -Fred (28 years ago, 15-May-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Error Messages

(...) What version of IC are you running? Are you by chance running the old DOS version 2.86x under Windows? -- Randy (28 years ago, 15-May-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Should I?

Hi all, I am a young Dutch engineer assigned to build a prototype of a six-legged robot. I am considering to use the handy-board as the controller. There are however a few questions I have. First of all, is it possible to control six motors with the (...) (28 years ago, 15-May-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Downloading without AC adapter

Is it possible to download pcode and programs to the HB with having the AC adapter plugged in? -John (28 years ago, 15-May-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Where can i buy L293D in Scandinavia

  Error Messages

Hi to all, Why do I get the following error messages when I load my files to the Handy-board? Thank you in advance.   Re: 15' max measurement

(...) I beleive "hard" rigid materials have high reflectivity of sound, such as metal and granite, etc. Pourous materials absorb sound, like brick and wood. You may have notised that sound absorbtions usually involve foam pads on the walls and (...) (28 years ago, 14-May-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: 15' max measurement

(...) I believe it would matter what type of material you reflect the pulse off of, I would guess. Different surfaces have differenc acoustical properties. Just like they have those silent rooms and echo chambers, etc. (28 years ago, 14-May-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  15' max measurement

Yup, it looks like 15' is about as far as I can measure. In fact, if the distance is _too_ great, I start getting weird measurements, on the order of 8 or 9 feet. Strange. I turned the gain up a bit, which keeps those erratic measurements from (...) (28 years ago, 14-May-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  sonar module

Well, I finally got my Polaroid sonar module in the mail, and I got it working with my Handy Board tonight. My feelings thus far: This thing is pretty neat. However (of course), there are a few quirks that I'm trying to figure out. Distance (...) (28 years ago, 14-May-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Continuation of the quest to understand the SPI port

Hi, Under Interactive C, something is resetting bits 6 and 4 of the SPCR register (0x1028). Whenever we try poke(0x1028,0x5C); and then do a peek(0x1028), we always get back 0x0C!!! Trying to figure out whether this was an instantaneous thing or (...) (28 years ago, 12-May-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
