  Re: 15' max measurement

(...) I beleive "hard" rigid materials have high reflectivity of sound, such as metal and granite, etc. Pourous materials absorb sound, like brick and wood. You may have notised that sound absorbtions usually involve foam pads on the walls and (...) (28 years ago, 14-May-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: 15' max measurement

(...) I believe it would matter what type of material you reflect the pulse off of, I would guess. Different surfaces have differenc acoustical properties. Just like they have those silent rooms and echo chambers, etc. (28 years ago, 14-May-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  15' max measurement

Yup, it looks like 15' is about as far as I can measure. In fact, if the distance is _too_ great, I start getting weird measurements, on the order of 8 or 9 feet. Strange. I turned the gain up a bit, which keeps those erratic measurements from (...) (28 years ago, 14-May-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  sonar module

Well, I finally got my Polaroid sonar module in the mail, and I got it working with my Handy Board tonight. My feelings thus far: This thing is pretty neat. However (of course), there are a few quirks that I'm trying to figure out. Distance (...) (28 years ago, 14-May-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Continuation of the quest to understand the SPI port

Hi, Under Interactive C, something is resetting bits 6 and 4 of the SPCR register (0x1028). Whenever we try poke(0x1028,0x5C); and then do a peek(0x1028), we always get back 0x0C!!! Trying to figure out whether this was an instantaneous thing or (...) (28 years ago, 12-May-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Just to make my tiny contribution to the Handy Board community, I decided to convert the menu.c file for the 6.270 board for use on the Handy Board. It is available in the ic_contrib/jkeyzer directory on cher, for anyone who wants to check it out. (...) (28 years ago, 11-May-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Summary Re: Ordering from 6270 Technologies

The 6.270 2.21 board set was gratuitously received on May 8th; although the original email query was sent out 11/28/95 and the check sent out on 12/5/95. The general responses that I received from people responding back is similar to the (...) (28 years ago, 10-May-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  A Project In Planning

Hi Ya, I am a team member of a team that is planning to build a robotic platform for a research project. What we want to do is build a platform with a Handy Board and a PC on it. The HB will deal with the drive motors (through and interface card to (...) (28 years ago, 10-May-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
