The L293E is not a replacement for the L293D. The D suffix means "Diode" and it includes the snubber diode to prevent the chip from being destroyed by inductive loads. --Chuck (27 years ago, 1-Oct-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Anthony can correct me if I'm wrong, but generally the phrase "converting an R/C car" means, taking a Radio Controlled model car, modifying and/or removing the radio receiver and motor driver circuitry, and replacing it with a computer. Hi Rob, Based on the messages you're getting, I'm guessing you're running freeware IC under windows. If you run under DOS, it should work great.
