  Re: voice synthesis

(...) This is the text-2-speech chip, but it doesn't include the allophone synthesizer (SP0256) so unless you have an allophone synthesizer this won't do you much good. --Chuck (27 years ago, 7-Jul-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  v2x sample code

Hello Everyone: I have just finished hooking up my vector2x compass and it seems to work fine thanks to Tom Brusehaver's good work and instructions. The only goof I made was to reverse the input and output lines.   Auton. underwater vehicles #2

Here are more web sites that provide useful underwater vehicle information: Unmanned Underwater Vehicle Society (UUVS) at U of Florida This student group had the only functioning AUV during the 1996 AUVSI Annual Symposium and Exhibition.   Re: vector 2 x sample programs

(...) Eric Olson (robojoc@worldnet.att.net) may be able to help you. He describes his GeneSys-1 robot in the latest Seattle Robotics Society newsletter. It uses ultrasonic rangefinding, IR, and a Vector 2X compass for navigation. Nice machine. (URL) (...) (27 years ago, 6-Jul-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Rules for next years firefighting contest

Has anyone heard when next years rules will be out for the Trinity firefighting contest? Are there going to be any major changes or are they going to stay about the same? Thanks. Keith Keith Soldavin kas219@email.psu.edu (URL) (27 years ago, 5-Jul-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Re: Backlit screen and external power

(...) Hi there Joe- (...) Yes, you're gonna like this- just about any "Optrex-compatible" LCD display can be used on the HandyBoard. There are two caveats however, most of these displays have a 14-pin header connection and not the 14-pin inline (...) (27 years ago, 5-Jul-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: voice synthesis

Jeff, JDR Microdevices sells the General Insturments CTS256AL2 chip (GI8642CAA) for ** $4.95 **. This is (I think) a slightly newer version of the same chip that Radio Shack used to sell. I bought one of those with an order from JDR, but haven't had (...) (27 years ago, 5-Jul-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Auton. underwater vehicles

Most robot builders work on mobile and walker robots. A few developers, however, have addressed another challenge: autonomous underwater vehicles. This research requires new sensors and special concern to mechanical details. With one major mistake, (...) (27 years ago, 4-Jul-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Backlit screen and external power

Hi, 1.Does anyone know of a backlit and/or larger compatible LCD screen? 2.Are the problems with using a larger power supply than 500ma related only to battery overcharging and in this case can the battery be replaced with a larger amperage power (...)   Re: voice synthesis

There used to be a company that made a vowel synthesis kit, but I think they pulled it. Some science catalog company still had a bunch, back in January, and I have one (oh joy of joys). I may still have a scanned image of the schematics from it that (...) (27 years ago, 3-Jul-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: voice synthesis

(...) Wow, impressive board. However, it's a bit out of my price range - I was hoping for a solution just about as cheap as the Radio Shack one used to be. Quality of speech isn't that much of a factor, I'm merely going to try and put this thing on (...) (27 years ago, 3-Jul-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Svar: Trouble shooting 7.2.2 (The digital inputs)

Hej I'm had the same problem, until i found that I loaded some programs via lib-file, not suitably for HB. (lib_r22.c) It seems you are running some programs for the 6.270. Have You setup IC correct? Try run c:\IC -config. Check out your lib-files. (...) (27 years ago, 3-Jul-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Future versions of handyboard?

(...) I suspect there probably aren't such plans. One of the problems is the amount of infra-structure needed for a successful board. Basically you need a good board and a good development environment, and you have to be as inexpensive as possible (...) (27 years ago, 3-Jul-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  lcd and ds1233-10 supplier

Just for the record, I was able to get the Hitachi LCD and the Dallas Semi. voltage monitor from Sterling Electronics. Their number is (512)836-1341.
