I miss some nice features in IC 3.1...

Hi, I'm considering to buy IC 3.1. But when I looked at it's features I fount two nice things to be missing: 1. A build in assembler to create the .icb files 2. An option to compile C code instead of interpreting it. (I saw this very nice feature in (...) (27 years ago, 27-May-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Re: Motors: Please help! Going out of my mind...

(...) Of all the things in a Robot, motors are in some ways the most difficult to obtain. (...) Both Brevel and Globe make such motors, they typically go for anywhere been $175 each and $500 each.   IC 3.1

Is it possible to receive a trial/shareware version of IC 3.1? I don't what to go through the expense of buying the full version unless I know it will do what I need it to do. Thanks in advance. -Brad (27 years ago, 27-May-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  IC 3.1

(...) Hi Joe, Removing drivers depends a bit on what OS you're actually running. Generally, you'd remove lines from your config.sys or autoexec.bat (on c:\) to remove various drivers, if there are some you don't actually need. Networking software on (...)   Out of memory error

Randy, Thanks for your help so far, but I have a few questions. How can I remove drivers to get more room. Where can I quickly get a copy of IC 3.1? And how much does it cost? -Joe (...) (27 years ago, 27-May-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Memory problems

I have been having big problems with the programs that I have been writing for my handy board. I currently have around 1400 lines. I expect to have about 2000 when I'm done. I have many functions called throughout the program and recently have (...) (27 years ago, 27-May-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Out of memory error

(...) At some point, you may run out of memory on the Handyboard; however, it sounds like IC 2.8 is running out of the 640K DOS-limited memory. You might try removing drivers to get more room in the lower 640K. If you move up to IC 3.1, which is a (...) (27 years ago, 26-May-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: clueless programmer

A very simple program which will exercise the motors in this configuration is listed. The first section will put a message on the LCD then wait until the sopt button is pressed. Once the stop button is sensed, it will turn on the motor in port 0. (...) (27 years ago, 26-May-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  TEAC Stepper motor

Has anyone had any experience driving the stepper motor from a TEAC 5 1/4 in floppy drive with the HB.   RE: IC 3.1

also, joe... there are several programs you can run to get more conventional memory (640)... dos 6.0 to 6.22 comes with memmaker... run this a couple times, toy with the settings a bit to see what you can pull off... one of the settings may cause (...)   Motors: Please help! Going out of my mind...

Please somebody help! Actually it's not quite that bad, but I've been searching and hunting trying to find some motors to use for a new robot base. First time I have wrote to the list hope it goes well... To be honest I don't have a clue on how to program in 'C' or any thing else for that matter. But I'm slowly learning.   RE: weird headers

(...) Thanks, I stuck a pot in it's place and fiddled with it until I got 4.49k and it worked great. I came up with the 4.49k by taking 1/x*.0068 = 32.75. Where .0068 is the cap, and 32.75 was my desired frequency. So x was determined to be 4.49 (...) (27 years ago, 23-May-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: IR

Hi Fred, I do not know exactly of your situation with the IR detector/emitter arrangement. I found that it sometimes picks up noise occassionally.
