  Re: Sonar problems

(...) You're more than welcome. As for mounting: I have found that custom cutting stainless steel brackets with a dremel tool to be most effective. Sturdy but flexible for purposes of fine adjustment. Basically it's a long tab that slides through (...) (27 years ago, 5-Apr-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Can the handyboard be taught to talk?

Hello! REmember when I kept on asking those (yes, maybe annoying) questions about the LCD inputs and outputs? WEll, here's the reason why. On Pages 193 to 200 of the book the Robot Builder's Bonanza- 99 inexpensive robotics projects, author Gordon (...) (27 years ago, 5-Apr-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: analog header

(...) This is known as an 'impedence mismatch'. Basically your NPN amplifier is incapable of driving the analog input low (which in itself seems a bit weird since you only need to sink .1 mA to do that which suggests that perhaps there is feedback (...)   Re: Sonar problems

(...) Hi all, i just tested my polaroid sonar and it works great. Thanks to Kent and Adam. BTW..with the BINH, iwas getting 1"...but when i removed it as suggested by Chuck Manis (in some old mail)...it's reading the correct distances. So i guess (...)   (no subject)

Does anyone have asm (icb) code that utilizes the pinouts of the motor port 1+2 (motor drvr chip removed) to drive a stepper motor. Only 2 digital outputs would be required... one for stepping and the other for selection of direction. Thanks. (...) (28 years ago, 5-Apr-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  expansion header

Does anyone know how I might turn a selected output on the expansion header low. These outputs are normally high and reading the docs tells me this header is used for chips selection. Other than chip selection, this header could be utilized to (...) (28 years ago, 5-Apr-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  analog header

I am currently trying to put together an IR collision avoidance system..... I'm using the HOA2498-002 IR diode/transistor package which is hooked up to a darlington pair (increased sensitivity) Using a digital output to turn on the diode via a (...)   Re: Sonar problems

I remeber there being some kinda control character like a line feel or something. This is due to the difference in environments, DOS, unix, etc. This might be the cause of your problem. I think I had some trouble with this too but I forgot all about (...) (28 years ago, 5-Apr-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Better assembly code

I went home and got my Pink book, the menemonics on this 'software output only' UART are now correct (assume PORTA bit 7 (PAI) as the output pin) ; ; Called with character to send in A ; Destroys A, B, and X ; serout:: SEI ; disable interrupts LDX (...)   Sonar problems

I have The Polaroid sonar system hooked up as stated in the readme file that is on the web page but I can't get it to work. I downloaded the five programs in the sonar directory and when I try to download them I get errors. I can't get the ICB file (...) (28 years ago, 4-Apr-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Wire wrapping sockets

(...) Sure, over 20Mhz or so. I've breadboarded 16Mhz 80286 systems on these things. Don't use the long connections (along the edge) of the board for signals. Also the chance of any given breadboard connection being flakey is about 1 in 200. So if (...) (28 years ago, 4-Apr-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Wire wrapping sockets

(...) Check out www.cgntech.com, these guys have wire wrap sockets for the 68HC11. But they also have something _much_ cooler. They have a small board which consists of a 68HC11, RS-232 circuit, address latch, and buffer logic, with wire wrap pins (...) (28 years ago, 4-Apr-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Wire wrapping sockets

Hi, Sorry this is on a different note. I was wondering what the advantage is of using wrie wrapping over breadboarding. Someone told me that breadboarding has alot of capacitance and will slow down the circuit at high speeds. Is this so? ---...--- (...) (28 years ago, 4-Apr-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Wire wrapping sockets

I am thinking of building a second handyboard for myself but I want to make a few changes to the design. I need to know if anyone knows of a place to buy a 52 pin PLCC wire wrapping socket for the 68hc11. I am aware that there are adapters to (...)   Re: Mini SSC - Scott Edwards

(...) Stop the presses! You should have gotten documentation with the SSC but since you are apparently missing it (and its small anyway) the relevant information is that the Mini-SSC uses a serial interface to control its servos. You must send down (...) (28 years ago, 4-Apr-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: power supply

I have never done much battery work and I was wondering if using a separate battery with a common ground to the HB has caused anyone any problems during charging or any other situation. I have common grounded a 3v battery pack to the HB supply to (...) (28 years ago, 4-Apr-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: photo sensor quesion.

If you have a device that uses the handyboard supply to generate voltages then just voltage divide the output to the correct 0-5v and input on the analog ports. If you are using phototransistors or something similar there are lots of photo circuits (...) (28 years ago, 4-Apr-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: LCD Panel Substitute

Any 16x2 LCD with a Hitachi HD44780 controller chip will work. I got mine from wirz electronics at www.wirz.com (go to serial lcd displays and they sell the LCD separate for $8 bucks!) There are lots of displays that use (...) (28 years ago, 4-Apr-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Mini SSC - Scott Edwards

Hi, I am working in a group to make a six legged robot. We are using the Mini SSC from Scott Edwards to control the servo motors. We've connected the digital output #9 from the Handy Board to the S(in)#2 pin of the SSC. We also connected the signal (...) (28 years ago, 4-Apr-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
