  (2 sensors)

Tom, With regards to your writing the program that compared two sensors...may I ask what specific sensors were you using? or had in mind?? Jim Tegarden (28 years ago, 15-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  HB ni-cad battery pack

I located a 9.6 volt 700 or 900 mah battery pack at Radio Shack and the one on the parts list is just 500 mah. My question is, will the charging circuit work ok with either of the above battery packs from Radio Shack? Thanks Bill Rose (28 years ago, 15-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Long Distance Communications

RF modems. These are 9600 baud and up serial links with just that range. Cost tends to be $500 per. I don't know of any brands I can recommend off-hand. Try a net search? -fred In your message you said: (...) (28 years ago, 15-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Long Distance Communications

How Can I communicate between handy boards over long distances, cost effectively and wirelessly.I would like to communicate over distances of several miles. Thank you, Joe Martin joema@mpx.com.au (28 years ago, 15-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Pins Y0-Y5 addresses

Info on how to use these pins is explained in the Appendix B of the 6.270 manual. The HB and the 6.270 have the same memory/digital I-O circuitry. Look in the Tech Docs link off the main page. -Fred In your message you said: (...) (28 years ago, 15-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

You know, I just had a wacky thought...

Rememeber all those MOSFET stereo ads in the back of Pop Electronics et al? I got to thinking about it today and wondered if they wouldn't make a cheap and easy motor controller? Sometimes the modules are dual channels, but essentially all they are (...) (28 years ago, 15-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Pins Y0-Y5 addresses

Hi, I need to access the pins labelled Y0 to Y5 on the expansion bus. I wasn't able to find the addresses for these pins on the HB web site. Does anyone know these addresses or can someone direct on how to find them? Thanks, Maria ---...--- Maria (...) (28 years ago, 15-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Ports on Windows NT

Dear Chris, The reason that the downloaders don't work with NT is probably due to the fact that NT has a hardware abstraction layer, and requires special code to access it. I don't think either HBDL or IC has this code. As far as the Win 3.1 goes, (...) (28 years ago, 15-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Ports on Windows NT

Hey folks, I can't get my HB downloaded on my dual Pentium Pro running Windows NT (3.51). Anybody done this? HBDL complains that none of the COM ports are available, and my event log claims conflicts occur between COM ports (managed by SERIAL) and (...)   Strange.....

Today I was at The Computer Museum, Boston, presenting The Handy Board, and non-commercial controlers called Crickets. The HB was working fine, but one time I turned it on. It diplayed: "IC v3.1 Bet" an the heart stopped beating. It seems as if it (...) (28 years ago, 14-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

RE: You know, I just had a wacky thought...

It is not completely wacky, but there are issues. For example most audio amplifiers aren't rated for DC operation (that having their output stay at one level permanently) You can fix this by rectifying the output of the amplifier and providing a DC (...)   Re: Need big favor

(...) If you need motor control of 6A average and 12A peak, check out Ben Wirz's homepage, he sells a unit using two bridged LM18200's, a great chip.   FTP error

Is there something wrong with the FTP server. I can't connect to it. (28 years ago, 14-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: HB Downloader Trouble

Well, I got my HB working. I brought it over to a friends house where he was able to program it using his machine with little trouble. So, obviously it was not the HB per se. I brought it back home, and had trouble downloading from IC 3.1b but was (...) (28 years ago, 14-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Need big favor

Could somebody who has the tyco 'Fast Traxx' vehicle please tell me what the numbers are printed on the sides of the long 15 pin black chip and the two green power transistor looking chips? Basically all the chips bolted to the aluminum heat sink. (...) (28 years ago, 14-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: IR wall detection

(...) Could you tell me the cost & range for these? (...) Could you trigger them in an interleave-like sequence? Seems that would reduce interference to just about zero. If you number 1-2-3 starting at zero degrees and going clockwise, you could set (...) (28 years ago, 14-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  IR wall detection

I have recenty perfected a simple sensor using the Sharp IR detector but I need some help in interfacing it. I plan on having about 16 sensors all around the perimiter of the robot but I don't want to have them running all at the same time because (...)   Re: HB Downloader Trouble

Success on the first bootstrap download and failure to write into RAM could easily be explained by a fault in the memory circuit. The memory circuit, which includes the 'hc373, the 'hc132, and the RAM chip itself, with about 27 signals going to the (...) (28 years ago, 13-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: HB Downloader Trouble

(...) I too have this problem. I originally thought it was the RS232 converted, but I have since replaced this part and still get the downloading error (using HBDL and DLM).   Address marking on th SCI

I'd like to address two devices (one a handyboard) over the same serial line. I can use the address mark wake up method described int the pink book. Is this compatable with IC, or do I need to write my interface in assembly? -Jodi Graf (28 years ago, 13-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
