Well, I got my HB working.  I brought it over to a friends house where he
was able to program it using his machine with little trouble.  So,
obviously it was not the HB per se.  I brought it back home, and had
trouble downloading from IC 3.1b but was able to download using HBDL.
After that IC 3.1b worked fine.  I don't know exactly what the problems
were I am willing to suspect that I did not have the connectors
(DB25/RS232, RJ11) connected properly.  I have noticed though, over the
last month of posting there have been at least four of us that have not
been able to download sucessfully, this may be coincidence, or maybe
not.

Now on to the next step, at least I'll have something to do for blizzard
number 8!  Come join us, if you can get here (no interstate, airport, or
trains do to 13ft high snow drifts)

Success on the first bootstrap download and failure to write into RAM could easily be explained by a fault in the memory circuit. The memory circuit, which includes the 'hc373, the 'hc132, and the RAM chip itself, with about 27 signals going to the (...) (28 years ago, 13-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
