Hi Christian
Glad to hear you've "taken the plunge" and bought a Lego Mindstorms Kit.
It really is an incredible amount of fun (My wife thinks Ive bought it
for my son).
One or two quick points:-
()I don't quite understand where you get the $500 for a robot based on the
Basicx-24. The way I see it the price is $99 for the chip, Demo-Board,
cable and software.(for an even more cost effective price buy the basicx-24
Download the sofware from the web site and make your own serial cable)
()Servo's seem to be cheap in the U.S.(they are in the U.K.) and they are
quite easy to make them compatible with Lego.
()You can still use Lego parts for the main structure, no need for using other
materials.
()As for having to learn Basic. You might actually find that for any project
more than something simple, the Mindstorms software is actually more difficult
to use, one of the reasons most people seem to use the excellent NQC.
Just a few thoughts, hope they're helpfull. I will be interested to
hear how it works out with your walker.
All the best JC.
