Letting them search both ways might be too much work for the Russell and/or the
folks putting this system together.
A heirarchical taxonomy is all right as long as it allows for each "node" to
have more than one child and more than one parent. (Genealogy trees work this
way, so it shouldn't be too hard for people to handle the concept). That allows
multiple paths to each node and multiple "category lists" for each leaf node
(which is an image, in this case).
This is particularly important if you are limiting them to using the "taxonomy"
interface. What if someone is looking for all robots programmed with RoboLab
and they don't care whether it is a "mobile" robot or not? Are you going to
force them to go through all the different branches in your arbitrary category
system just because you thought the type of movement was more important?
