RCX Code does support an "Export" function that allows you to write out
programs to arbitrary files. These files could be placed in a code
repository--as a matter of fact, you can already do this at
www.legomindstorms.com.

IIRC, the files it produces are not actually representations of the code
directly, but representations of where the icons are on the RCX Code screen.
This works fine, of course, and makes sense from the viewpoint of someone
always using RCX Code, but it does mean that the files aren't stand-alone --
you can't use a command-line tool to download them to the RCX.

Since the first two questions have been well answered, I'll take on #3 and #4. (...) You can't generate an srec from RCX Code or Robolab. However, RCX Code does support an "Export" function that allows you to write out programs to arbitrary files. (...) (25 years ago, 20-Sep-99, to lugnet.robotics)
