Thanks, Jonathan && Others... I'll look at the patent.
With all the 'clones' out there, is it likely that
Lego would complain if someone made compatible-but-not-
identical connectors??  How do they handle the Clone
Market??

Couple of questions, related to my interest in Sensors
and Actuators:

I have made one connector from a 2x2 full height brick
(for two LEDS: One Red, One Green, opposing so that
changing output direction switches from Red to Green).
I am having ADHESIVE problems. I expect this is related
to a mold-release compound on the bricks. I need to adhere
thin copper foil to the brick plastic.  The foil (used in
stained-glass work) has an adhesive side.  I put two
.5" by .25" pieces 'over the edge' of opposite sides of the brick
bottom edge.  The brick still plugs well onto the RCX
connector. Drilled a couple of holes, mounted LEDS and a resistor,
and very quickly soldered to the two foil pieces.

Any suggestions known about good 'brick-compatible' adhesives?
SuperGlue??  I am NOT getting good adhesion of the foil,
although it has been OK for a few on-off cycles so far. At
least I now have BlinkenLites, which I consider essential...

I tried removing / attacking the plastic a bit with 'GoofOff'
which is close to the universal solvent (You can't HAVE a
universal solvent: what would you KEEP it in??) This didn't
seem to help adhesion much.  I'm thinking of Contact Cement, which
should grab the existing foil adhesive well.

I'd like this to work, as it seems a pretty good HomeBrew method
of making connectors.  With the foil along two edges, it acts
just like the Lego connector: Works all 4 directions: one polarity
North+East, other polarity South+West.

I KNOW you guys must Glue 'Em sometimes....

On the subject of making connector blocks, I have been very successful with taking the conductor strips you get as a S@H service pack, hacking two squares out, slotting one edge of each of the 2x2s, soldering wires to that side, slotting the inside (...)
