Sure you can. You can start with very simple robots and programs and
continue from there on. Getting started is less complicated than posting to
a newsgroup ;-)
I wouldn't decide now whether you are going to use NQC or not. If you really
enjoy robotics you probably want to use NQC or something else later on.
But if the standard mindstorms software does everything you need, by all
means stay with it.
