  RoboCam & Careful aim...

A video tidbit I've had rattling around since House of Bricks. The first part is NXT combat, with three remote controled robots (that's six NXT sets altogether). The camera is mounted on a robot driven by John Brost, with my robot being the (...) (19 years ago, 29-Jun-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: thoughts on gbc module reliability

(...) If you have a module, then bring it - old or new. I'm not sure how many new ones I'll have, especially as one of mine is now a virtual GBC antique, having been one of the very first modules ever made to the standard. And the others that will (...)   Re: thoughts on gbc module reliability

(...) This brings me to a question: is there any restriction on bringing last year's modules to this year's Brickfest? On one hand it seems like that could make it even bigger (!) but on the other hand we want some new stuff, right? Thoughts, (...) (19 years ago, 29-Jun-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: thoughts on gbc module reliability

[Others have addressed most of this, so I'm just putting in my 2 cents and not a bunch of "me too"s] (...) Ok, but that one I do have to add a "me too" :-). (...) Over any long-term average. This could be 1 ball every second, or a batch of four (...) (19 years ago, 29-Jun-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: thoughts on gbc module reliability

(...) I've worked with these as well. They look nice, and like Steve I have some modules that can handle them, and some that can't. More interesting (to me) is that a simple mechanical sorter works great, so potentially you could have a GBCm that (...) (19 years ago, 29-Jun-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: thoughts on gbc module reliability

(...) This may be where some people get into trouble. The height & placement of the in & out baskets is a hard requirement. So is the minimum of 1 bps. People MUST follow the standard, in order for the GBC to work. Last year at BrickFest, every one (...) (19 years ago, 29-Jun-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: thoughts on gbc module reliability

(...) They are a little bigger and a little heavier. If either of these is a problem for your module, then it's a problem. :) They will work with most of my modules, but not all. However, they are good for shooting with an NXT... Steve (19 years ago, 29-Jun-06, to lugnet.robotics)

"Steve Hassenplug" <Steve@TeamHassenplug.org> wrote in message news:35326.66.84.205...air.com... (...) Thread HiJack!!!!!! The new Bionicle sets have some shotting balls in them and they are a little bit bigger than soccer balls (and a little (...) (19 years ago, 29-Jun-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: thoughts on gbc module reliability

(...) Ahh the lamentations of the GBC slave...I feel your pain. After beginning my primary GBC module a week after BF'05, I am *still* testing it. It is extremely complicated and and I've had to make countless design decisions and tradeoffs. At one (...) (19 years ago, 29-Jun-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: thoughts on gbc module reliability

(...) Rafe, It sounds like all this info jammed up in your brain, before it finally leaked out... :) All these thoughts & calculations are good. As you pointed out, for one module, it's ok if 90% of the balls pass through. However, with ten modules (...) (19 years ago, 29-Jun-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  thoughts on gbc module reliability

All GBCers, This will likely be a long post, so be forwarned. It contains some rambling thoughts on development and reliability of GBC modules. Now that I have started writing, I'm not sure exactly where this is headed, but I have this need to try (...) (19 years ago, 29-Jun-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Have you got your NXT yet?

(...) Oh let me tell ya Brian... I have a whole list of non-measurements that just aren't measuring up. (...) I have a feeling my "real" doctor did the exact same thing... there is no bloody way she earned a real degree... she makes Barbie look like (...) (19 years ago, 29-Jun-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Have you got your NXT yet?

(...) Exactly. You see, you may have been waiting for the RCX for many years: without proper documentation, you have no data to extrapolate from. Furthermore there is the statistical nature of the shipping process to consider, so there are (...) (19 years ago, 29-Jun-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Have you got your NXT yet?

(...) What exactly seems to be the problem? Can you connect to the NXT from the programming environment? (...) Note that if you don't want the "Try Me" and on-brick programming options, these can all be deleted freeing up some room. From the memory (...) (19 years ago, 29-Jun-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Have you got your NXT yet?

(...) I'm fairly pleased with that as well, although now I've got big dreams of how to really use it (and then, I'll probably be complaining about how it doesn't have sub-0.1° resolution :-). (...) We all do. NXT-G is a big jump for many of us (...) (19 years ago, 29-Jun-06, to lugnet.robotics, FTX)

Re: Have you got your NXT yet?

Hi Brian My impressions: Very nice machine, I love bluetooth, the motor control accuracy and the new sensors, the program environment looks to be very powerful even though I need more practice... Well here is my question, I would like to program a (...) (19 years ago, 29-Jun-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Have you got your NXT yet?

Got 4 a few days ago and gave a couple of kits to my advanced robot kids at our summer camps. Actually, they were quite underwhelmed. They didn't like the new motor structure and felt instructions weren't correct and prefer the Mindstorms old (...) (19 years ago, 29-Jun-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Have you got your NXT yet?

(...) I been tinkering with mine for the past few hours. Bluetooth isn't functioning very well with mine. Most likely operator error. I thought it had more memory than it does. I had a hard time programming in more than four sound bites at a time. (...) (19 years ago, 29-Jun-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Have you got your NXT yet?

(...) Oh nooooo!!!! The Heisenberg Uncertaintanty Principle???? Hmmm HUP, almost sounds like a hoax. Wink. You robotics guys are too technical, and are just adding to my scientific experiment dilemmas.... darn realists popping my bubbles. I supposed (...) (19 years ago, 29-Jun-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Have you got your NXT yet?

(...) Don't forget the Heisenberg Uncertaintanty Principle. You know the amount of time that passed during which the NXT or RCX didn't arrive, but you can't simultaneously know where it didn't arrive. Perhaps it's on your porch right now, but you'll (...)
