Dirk, John,
Thanks so much for the reply. I had changed some info and needed to wait before
posting again, so I had a chance to check a couple of things...
Okay, this was weird.
I had powered up my laptop. I went to plug in the USB Tower, and when I did, I
was prompted for the "add new hardware" wizard. I stepped thru it, pointing the
wizard to the directory where the USB Tower Software was, and it installed it,
said the device was available...
So I was checking my RIS software, which I was doing by going into freestyle
mode and just making the brick beep once by testing a beep. Lo and behold, this
time it actually said it was updating my firmware, which it hadn't done before.
It updated the firmware, and then let me beep! So I checked bricx and it worked
too, giving me control of my brick to play around a little.
This is so awesome because I haven't been able to play with my mindstorms for
over a year and a half since my last computer bit the dust. I have much catching
up to do! Yay! Thanks guys!
