where is ris 2.0 available in u.s.?

Does anyone know of a cheap place in the U.S. to get LEGO Mindstorms RIS 2.0? Amazon has it for $150, but they're charging tax now because they say it's sold through Toys R Us. Ironically, I went to the local Toys R Us and they don't carry it (...) (20 years ago, 10-May-04, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) $150 IS a cheap price. It's listed for $200 on shop.lego.com, same price it's always been. However, I don't see it on Amazon, except for a 3rd party who's selling it for $170. If you can get it for $150 plus tax, jump on it. (20 years ago, 11-May-04, to lugnet.robotics)

Thanks. I know $150 is a good price, but since Amazon wants both shipping and tax it comes out to more than $170. Good, but I was hoping there was better to be found, possibly with an online retailer who won't charge for tax. --Russ -----Original (...) (20 years ago, 11-May-04, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) You could try e-bay. Get a good idea of what you're willing to pay, and what the retail price is, before bidding on any individual item, though. I've seen stuff go for *more* on e-bay than it would sell for new from lego's site. (20 years ago, 11-May-04, to lugnet.robotics)

I was watching eBay last week for one of my class members and some sets were going for around $100. It's up and down, but some of the 2.0 sets were going for $130, with many BUY IT NOWs for $150; shipping seems to run around $15. I've gotten (...) (20 years ago, 11-May-04, to lugnet.robotics)

Arrrghhh! Amazon raised the price $50 since yesterday. It's now $199 on Amazon, just like everywhere else! -----Original Message----- From: news-gateway@lugnet.com [mailto:news-gateway...net.com]On Behalf Of Steve Hassenplug Sent: Monday, May 10, (...) (...) You can find Mindstorms at most of the Lego stores. The price isn't cheap, though--its the standard pricing. I think TRU stopped carrying them because Mindstorms only seems to sell really well during Christmas periods, and as any retailer will (...) (20 years ago, 11-May-04, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) Brickbros (www.brickbros.net) had all three RIS sets on sale last week @ $130+shipping. I picked up a 1.0 set. The sale is over now and I just checked their site - unfortunately it looks like they are sold out of the 2.0 kits but they still (...) (20 years ago, 13-May-04, to lugnet.robotics)

  RIS Kit?

I am shopping around for a Lego robot kit and I'd like a bit of advice. Several websites have #3804 Robotics Invention System 2.0 for about $180. The main Lego site sells a kit (#9916) including the following goodies for $230. #3804 Robotics (...) (20 years ago, 13-May-04, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: RIS Kit?

Perry, I've been thinking thinking the same question myself, though I was unaware that the RIS could be got for $180. To a certain degree it depends on whether the individual goodies are of any use to you. I feel that the extra "bricks" that the (...) (20 years ago, 13-May-04, to lugnet.robotics)

FWIW, That lot of extras is worth $50, and the remote does come in handy, very handy to debug hardware before writing software for it. I have done both: write small routines to test motoroized motions, and used the remote. The remote stop button is (...) (20 years ago, 13-May-04, to lugnet.robotics)
