I was watching eBay last week for one of my class members and some sets
were going for around $100. It's up and down, but some of the 2.0 sets
were going for $130, with many BUY IT NOWs for $150; shipping seems to
run around $15. I've gotten several 1.0 and 1.5 sets for $100 on eBay
in the past. I've gotten sets with extra motors and sensors for about
$130. It's how I supply my class -- 99% of our LEGO parts come from
eBay or contacts I've made from eBay. If you buy an older set, you can
get the USB tower for $10-$20 on eBay also. The advantage of the 1.0
set is the ability to use a power adapter, rather than batteries. I've
got about 1/3 1.0 bricks, a couple of 1.5 bricks, and the rest 2.0. No
difference in the RCXs other than that. And I think RoboLab is vastly
superior to RIS, if you're not going to use NQC or something else.

| Thanks. I know $150 is a good price, but since Amazon wants both shipping and tax it comes out to more than $170. Good, but I was hoping there was better to be found, possibly with an online retailer who won't charge for tax. --Russ -----Original (...) (20 years ago, 11-May-04, to lugnet.robotics)
