Has anyone come up with a radio control transmitter and receiver similar in
style and use as the discontinued HiTechnic products? I had planned to
purchase some HiTechnic parts for my models, but as they have been
dicontinued, I have no idea what to use instead or what to make that will
work. I have considered taking the steering box and everything else (wires,
etc.) from a radio controlled car, and connecting a Lego 9v motor (or a
couple motors), or even just converting the RC motor to drive Lego gears.
Essentially, I will make a custom radio controlled car out of Lego. Does
anyone else have ideas, plans, or even radio transmitters and recievers that
work with Lego motors?

Max,

I am putting together a web page that has instructions on how to use Radio
Control servos to run Lego projects.  The servos can be used as they are -
or you can take one apart and use the electronics to drive Lego motor
directly.  I'll have more soon.

BTW - look at http://www.stormyprods.com/lego/rokenbok.htm
He shows how to use a Rokenbok system to drive Lego motors.

I have posted the web page that explains how Radio Control Systems work and how
to modify a radio control servo to drive Lego motors.

The web page is: http://users.adelphia.net/~istafford/lego-radiocontrol.html

Questions and comments are welcome.

(...) How does the motor behave? I'm no electronics expert but I think I followed your description. The best way for a system like this would be: 1) The stick on the transmitter is in it's center position = the LEGO motor is shut off. 2) The stick (...) (22 years ago, 8-May-03, to lugnet.technic)
