The only real awful bit is all the mechanism going on
underneeth. I did lubricate it at work yesterday with some spray-on
silicone. I hope it doesn't damage my pieces, but the guy who gave the
bottle to me said it would be fine.

Silicone spray does'nt hurt your Lego parts; I use it on those small
balljoints like in the Supercar suspensions...
