  Logo style Turtle, anyone?

Greetings all, (...) a rotary sensor), I would like to be able to create a logo-style turtle -- i.e. able to do pen up, pen down, move, turn, and so able to produce programmed geometries. Has anyone done this? Being new to legos (alas), I would (...) (24 years ago, 23-May-01, to lugnet.robotics)

For the pen up and down, use a gear rack assembly attachec to the pen and to a motor/guide assembly on the robot. Make it a differential drive robot with a differential linked rotation sensor found on Jonathan Knudsen (I porbably butchered that, and (...) (24 years ago, 23-May-01, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) of (...) Surprisingly enough, I'm currently building such a thing. I thought that nobody has already had this idea :-) Sorry no pictures yet, but I'm glad to share my approach. As Andy said, make it a differential drive. Very important: keep (...) (24 years ago, 24-May-01, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) Well, I have done this very thing. This was actually one of my earlier mindstorms projects. I used a differential drive and a rack and pinion pen lifting mechanism as described by another individual. The beauty of the differential drive is (...) (23 years ago, 24-May-01, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) Not that I know of. I wanted to do this years ago when I first got Mindstroms and quickly realized that I needed either a rotation sensor or a servo motor in order to turn each wheel a precise angle. Since that time there have been numerous (...) (23 years ago, 24-May-01, to lugnet.robotics)

quad motor board for JCX (with Lego connectors) is out and works

Here are photos and schematics of our quad motor driver board for Legos and other small DC motors: (URL) board has been tested and is currently running a couple of MindStorms robots. We expect it to be featured in a keynote demonstration at JavaOne, (...) (23 years ago, 24-May-01, to lugnet.robotics)

Look at pen-drawing wheeled vehicle starting at (URL) images 02 through 07). You could modify it for pen up/down. The RIS sets have newer gear-reduced motors instead of the older fast motors shown, so you will need to change the gearing. (...) (23 years ago, 2-Jun-01, to lugnet.robotics)
