Hey, console yourself! It's not as useless as you think.
In fact, the large pump worked by hand is the most efficient of all.
Only thing you gotta supply the energy :-)

| (...) LOL yup...if you have a fast and powerful hand you can create a ton of pressure within seconds with this... BTW I recently acquired a pack of two small pumps for $10US from the Dacta site...so this might be a solution if you're looking for the (...) (24 years ago, 1-May-01, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.robotics)
