Philippe,

Nice work.  I ordered a few parts and am going to try it out.

Now if I could figure out how to multiplex 4 sensors to a single input an be
able to monitor them individually.

The goal is crossing sensors on the front and rear to give true coverage.
An external battery pack is ok.

Hi Steven, no problem ! The circuit shown on our website (depending on the work of Michael Gasperi) is easy extendable with a fourth (and more) sharp GP2D12. Have a look at : (URL) you need is to build a fourth little amplifier-ciruit (the fourth (...) (23 years ago, 23-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

A microcontroller based solution such as Andreas one ((URL) perhaps be more suitable for your application. A thing that would be helpful for this kind of heavy configuration would be an "IO-processor" consisting of a microcontroller linked to RCX (...) (23 years ago, 23-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) Can be done, but charging time will be proportionnally longer. Could be useful for burst reads. (...) Mmmm... at that point an external battery pack would be much simpler and not that big ! Philo (URL) page : (URL) (23 years ago, 23-Apr-01, to lugnet.robotics)
